Napo Cultural Center Lodge offers itineraries for 3 - 4 & 5 days

Day 1 - Arrival to Napo Cultural Center

A flight from Quito will bring you to the city of Coca. Along the way, you may notice the rich birdlife of the Amazon, including terns, kingfishers, and many other colorful species found near the riverbanks and islands. After arrival, you will be transferred to your comfortable room at the lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a short walk to explore the Napo River and admire a beautiful sunset over the Ecuadorian jungle, the perfect introduction to your Amazon adventure.

Day 2 - Amazon Wildlife Observation

Today you will experience the incredible wildlife of the Amazon Rainforest with a visit to the observation tower, a platform more than 35 meters high offering panoramic 360° views of the jungle. From this vantage point, you may spot toucans, parrots, many bird species, howler monkeys, sloths, and other animals that inhabit the Ecuadorian Amazon. In the afternoon, enjoy an opportunity to interact and share time with members of the local community.

Day 3 - Amazon Community Visit

(Optional) Rise early at 4:30 am to take part in one of the ancient Kichwa traditions by enjoying wayusa tea, known for energizing the body. You will also listen to traditional Kichwa music and spend time relaxing with community members in a peaceful and authentic setting. After returning for breakfast, the rest of the day will be dedicated to exploring the surrounding rainforest, where you may encounter monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. It may also be possible to include a visit to the Yasuni National Park parrot clay lick.

Day 4 - Napo River Navigation Wildlife

Today you will navigate the Napo River aboard an eco-catamaran, offering excellent opportunities to observe tropical birds such as orioles, caciques, parrots, herons, caracaras, doves, anis, terns, and several species of primates. Later, enjoy a rainforest hike where you may see different monkey species and other wildlife while taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Afterwards, return to the ecolodge and visit homes of local community members to learn more about their traditional way of life.

Day 5 - Departure Day

After breakfast, prepare to leave the Amazon ecolodge. You will travel by motorized canoe back to Coca, enjoying final views of the Napo River and the surrounding Ecuadorian rainforest landscapes. This is a wonderful chance to take your last photographs of the jungle scenery. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport in time for your return flight to Quito.

Napo Cultural Center FAQs

1. When visiting Napo Cultural Center, please follow these recommendations:

Walk only on marked trails and avoid wandering alone, as you could get lost in the forest.
Do not throw any trash on the trails; always use the designated bins.
Do not feed, touch, or disturb any animals, and do not cut or step on plants.
Use headphones when listening to music on personal devices.
Please do not use your camera flash.
Fishing and hunting are not permitted.
Taking photos or videos of community homes is not allowed. Please request permission in advance so our staff can coordinate accordingly.

2. Are the activities difficult?

Our programs include low to moderate intensity hikes designed for observing wildlife and enjoying the surrounding nature. For guests seeking a greater physical challenge, longer hikes can also be arranged.

3. What is Kichwa food like?

At Napo Cultural Center, you will enjoy traditional Kichwa cuisine featuring authentic local flavors. Signature dishes include maito, prepared with fresh fish wrapped in bijao leaves and cooked over the fire, accompanied by yuca and a refreshing iced Wayusa tea. Vegetarian options are also available.

4. What about the itineraries?
